The Book Note Project
My name is Laura. I am lover of books, a seller of books and (some day soon I hope to be) a writer of books. The Book Note Project was inspired by the hundreds of children I’ve seen come through the bookstore where I work looking for summer reading books and asking me: “Which one will I like the best?” Tired of replying with the words “Well, I haven’t read too many of these on your list, but…” I have decided to read as many of the more common summer reading titles as I can so I can give those children some better recommendations and so I can expand my own reading experience.
As I made my (very long) list of summer reading books, narrowing it down by the most standard titles (and the ones I most want to read), I realized I should write out a review on each book. A blog seemed a good way to keep track of the titles I’ll be reading and my assessments of each book while giving anyone with an internet browser access to my thoughts.
During the summer reading season, most of the books I will be reading and reviewing will be picked from the local summer reading lists, but those will not be the only titles you will find on this blog. I will also be discussing the books on my ever-growing “to read” list, those I obtain as advanced reader copies at the bookstore where I work, and any others that catch my eye. Basically, when summer reading season is over, anything is fair game.
Please note that all of the reviews in this blog are based on my personal opinions of these books. I am hopeful that I can help you decide which of the titles I discuss will be right for you, but the only real way to know if you’ll enjoy a title is to pick it up and try it out for yourself.
“There are worse crimes than burning books. One of them is not reading them.”
